Jon Goodman
Jon Goodman is the founder and leader of Play As One and the Valor Training Center. He is known and respected throughout Escondido for his love for Christ and for kids. A transformative football coach and classroom teacher at Escondido Charter High School, Jon continues to serve the Play As One community with vision, passion, leadership, and love. He is the proud father of four and husband to JoAnn.

Erik Beck
Erik Beck serves as the Education Direction for Play As One and the lead mentor for the Valor Humanities Program. A former attorney, Erik is now a veteran teacher with 10 years of experience teaching humanities to junior high and high school students. He is now a curriculum developer and teacher coach at the American Heritage Charter Schools. He lives in Valley Center with his wife, Kelly, and two kids, Sophia and Lincoln.

Steve Throop
Steve Throop has served as a Play As One coach for several years, and is now taking on the role of a founding mentor of the Valor Humanities Program. Steve has been working with students for nearly two decades, and has long been a beloved teacher at Escondido Charter High School, teaching Great Books, history, photography, and government to students of all grades. He is known for his deep care for his students and his joyful demeanor in the classroom. Steve lives in Valley Center with his wife, Jen, and his three children.

Kent Reister
Kent Reister is a founding mentor of the Valor Humanities Program. Mr. Reister has been working with junior high students for five years, teaching American literature and history at Heritage Junior High School. He is beloved and respected for his passionate teaching style and his deep commitment to developing the hearts of his students. Mr. Reister is a military veteran and former special forces candidate. He is graduate of the Torrey Honors College at BIOLA University. He lives in Escondido with his wife, Elisha, and his dog, Gus.
